Welcome to Process Massage! My name is Andrew and I qualified as a holistic massage therapist in 2019. I studied at the Sheffield Centre For Massage Training and hold accreditation through the Massage Training Institute. I am a member of the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, hold enhanced DBS status and am a qualified first aider. .
I first discovered the benefits of massage therapy in the early 2000s while working in teaching, finding it a wonderful way to not only relax and relieve pain, but also as a way of learning to identify more positively with my body; a means of examining posture and movement which I have carried through into daily life and my physical activities. Since leaving education I have been working in the field of adult mental health and am interested in the relationship between the physical and mental aspects of our being; and how these can be unified for a more holistic approach to our self-care, identity and how we move through the world.
The massage treatment I hope to offer you is based exclusively on you - every massage is based on a thorough evaluation of your physical and emotional needs, your previous experience of massage and what you hope to achieve through having a treatment. Everyone brings their own unique experience to the treatment room, and my aim is to provide a treatment that complements, respects and benefits your uniqueness.
Why ‘Process Massage’, you may ask? Well...generally speaking I’m more interested in things coming into being than the end result: and, for me, massage is all about learning - learning about oneself and one’s body; the tension it carries, the best ways to alleviate those tensions, finding new ways to care for oneself. As a massage therapist, my role is to use the skills I’ve learned to help people to find these things out for themselves; to facilitate a ‘process’ of becoming, whatever that may mean for the client.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or queries before making a booking, I’ll be more than happy to answer. Thanks for reading.
